FORESTOPIA's famously delicious hot chocolate will be available at Mocha Maya's in  Shelburne Falls during the winter of 2011-2012.  Stop by Mocha Maya's and ask for a cup of  this  amazingly rich hot chocolate  that we  hand craft from our  exceptional  "Real de Xonconusco' criollo cocoa beans sourced directly from our grower partners in Chiapas, Mexico.

-   Drinking Chocolate :     Hand crafted from exceptional Criollo cocoa beans grown by members of the "Red Maya de Productores Organicas" of the Xonconusco Region of Chiapas. Organic, Fair trade  and Agro-forestry certified,  chocolate connoisseurs take note, the  "Real de Xonconusco"  varietal of cocoa bean is consistently ranked as one of the worlds finest with amazing subtleties and dynamics of taste not found in  common varieties of cocoa bean sold on the world cocoa market. This exceptional bean  is highly sought after by fine chocolate makers.  Enjoy one cup our delicious   traditional Mexican  "Chocolate de Mesa"   served with hot steamed milk and you will never look back to  what you used to call "hot chocolate". 

 

 

 -  VANILLA:    Several   grades of fine vanilla  available (gourmet, superior and extract grades)  both certified Organic and naturally grown Vanilla  sourced directly from the individual  growers  in the Totonac region of Veracruz, Mexico and the Chinantla region of Oaxaca Vanilla  that we work with to promote sustainable, agroforestry methods of cultivation. Vanilla extract also available.

-   HIBISCUS TEA:    Certified Organic Hibiscus tea from the Cooperativa Kiee Lu'u of the Sierra Sur of Oaxaca, Mexico.  If you haven't tried Hibiscus drinks, hot or cold, you won't believe what you have been missing.

Ramon Nut/Semilla Ramon:    Wild harvested from  native trees  by Grupo Kuxcapu, a womens producers cooperative from the Totonac region of Veracruz, Mexico.  Ramon  nuts ( also known as  Bread nuts,  Maya nuts or Semilla Ramon) ,  are great tasting, highly nutritious and healthy.   Ramon nut flour is very high in protein,  tryptophan,  calcium  and fiber while also very low in fat. Through  creating a demand for this exceptional and largely overlooked food source, together you are helping to preserve forest ecosystems and promote sustainable livelihoods for local communities.   Currently available as either milled flour  for baking  or roasted and ground for  for brewing a rich and tasty, coffee-like drink.  

-    INDIGO DYE:      Organic,  natural textile dye prepared by harvesters from the Tehuantepec region of Oaxaca, Mexico

-    ACHIOTE (ANATTO)  DYE:      An organic natural food or textile dye harvested from both wild trees and  cultivated trees in an integrated agroforesty system by members of Ejido San Felipe, a traditional communal farming system  in  the Chinantla region of Oaxaca  Mexico. 

-   COFFEE:         Both organic and fair trade certified, we offer shade grown coffee from  highland  Chiapas, Mexico that  is some of  the regions finest.  Forstopia  coffee, directly traded from small growers in the region who use sustainable agroforestry methods, is  carefully selected  and  then roasted to perfection.

-   CHAGA:         A wild harvested mushroom loaded with antioxidants and other healthy properties, it makes a tasty tea.  Sustainably harvested from forests in the northeast USA and Canada.
